Interiors Fit For Oscar

Greetings from the Oscars better late than never!

Sorry for the late update life has been crazy with the start of spring but, I couldn’t just sweep the Oscars underneath the Red Carpet so here are the interiors fit for Oscar himself! After the Golden Globes I had too much fun taking the best dressed of the night and using the fashionistas to inspire interior design. With that being said, you can imagine how much fun I had watching and anticipating who would be wearing what at the Academy Awards!

Penelope Cruz

Penelope Cruz graced the red carpet in this stunning iridescent blue Armani Prive evening gown, fit for a princess! The soft blue color gives off the elegance fitted for a silk or velvet upholstered piece, and the metallic undertone can frame a dining room’s charm through the trim of a mirror or a dining chair.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Cameron Diaz

Gwynteth Paltrow wearing Tom Ford and Cameron Diaz in Elie Saab; monochromatic does wonders for these starlets from their hair color to their dress they both portrayed an effortless sense of beauty. This gorgeous simplicity can be reflected in the interior as well by using solid neutral fabrics and highlighting them with a simple embellishment or metallic finish. When I found this dining chair I fell in love with the marriage between fashion and furniture…it looks as if the chair is wearing a “backlace” (necklace worn on the back).

Judy Greer

Showing off her curves in this glitzy number by Collette Dinnigan, Judy Greer isn’t the only one who can use line and form to grab the attention of guests, but so can your entry way. A confidant is an ideal piece of furniture to shout “hello and welcome”, however, it often is forgotten about in most residence. Light up the room with a chandelier that uses line to excite the eye, making black and white more whimsical.

Anna Faris and Rose Byrne

Anna Faris wearing Diane von Furstenberg and Rose Byrne wearing Vivienne Westwood both draped the carpet in black sequins. These divas made black a bold statement just as black drapes can instead of framing your large windows open up the room. The Christopher Guy showroom used black wisely to make the silver metallic organic artwork standout in the gallery.

Maya Rudolph

Maya Rudolph proved to the Academy that she truly is a vision in purple which is why I had the most fun finding interior inspirations to match her look! Purple is the color of creativity and royalty which in turn is the perfect ingredient for a residential recipe. Consider a shade of purple on the walls or a rich purple fabric to upholster that wing chair you love so much that needs a makeover. Also, remember that your ceiling doesn’t have to be white so if you find yourself feeling ambitious… look up!

Sandra Bulluck

In attendance to the Academy looking like a Goddess in Marchesa Sandra Bulluck knows how to wear the perfect balance of black and white tones. Just like Sandra you can stay in your comfort zone of black and white while using geometry or organic shapes to enhance the look or add a little bling with nail heads.

Stacy Keibler

Stacy Keibler hit her stardom on the red carpet, taking the show away from date George Clooney in this gold Marchesa number. Make your room noticed with a splash of gold to glitter the attention; check out Maya Romanoff for unique and gorgeous wow factor wall papers that are not what you would see in your grandmother’s powder room!

Ellie Kemper

Last but certainly not least, I chose Ellie Kemper wearing Armani Prive for design inspiration that is RED ALL OVER! Indulge in red and indulge in your home, after all it is your palace isn’t it? Let red peek out in the places you would least expect such as behind a large piece of furniture or within an architectural nook, or get creative and spontaneous and add warm reds to your stained glass treatments as was done in this wine pantry.

As the nominations are in for the Academy Awards…I find myself still intrigued by the red carpet fashion inspirations from the Golden Globes! After receiving positive feedback from the Golden Globe Interiors post I had to add these last few fashion interior inspirations before the Oscars are upon us!

Selma Hayek in Gucci

Selma Hayek struck gold at the Golden Globes with this Gucci black and gold number! The retro geometrics of this design can be reflected in interiors through se-metrical ceiling lights to give light to a space age space, or by using the metallic sheen of gold to make a focal point in the room.

Claire Danes in J. Mendel

Claire Danes brought the drama of laser cut shapes to the awards wearing J. Mendel. Consider Maya Romanoff wallpaper and you will find that wallpaper is no longer restrained to your mother’s floral powder room but, can be the platinum plated wall that the celebrity in all of us deserve!

Maria Menounos

Maria Menounos made it clear that no matter what the season YELLOW should stand out! This should be no exception when it comes to your interiors especially for those of you who are in the depths of the cold winter! Flirt with the idea of yellow as Maria did by focusing your room around a bright and bold work of art or by inviting the sunlight in with bright colored drapes to frame your window.

Golden Globe Interiors

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

Every award show has its highlights, surprises and recognitions however, it is the fashion do’s and don’t’s that are usually remembered the days following the big night. After watching this year’s Golden Globes red carpet stars, I was inspired by the best dressed of the night to incorporate the must have motifs into interior design.

Morena Baccarin made her stunning presence known in Edition  by Georges Chakra. This “eye catching” look can be brought into any space by using black as a a bold statement. Glossy black ceilings and dark black hardwood floor are a risky move however, those who are dare devils will win the award for color contrast design in a sometimes black and white world. If you liked Morena’s geometric dress bring that into your room through fabrics such as a bold patterned bedspread or a zig zag place mat to make your china pop out.

The carpet wasn’t the only thing that was RED at the Golden Globes… Reese Witherspoon stole the thunder for red, wearing Zac Posen! The mermaid shape and sweetheart cut neckline gave her figure the attention it deserved which is why line and form are so important to consider in designing your space. Furniture designer Christopher Guy applies his admiration for the female curved lines into his furniture, as he has done with this console table which would not have the same sensual look if it weren’t on a red wall.

Looking like a true Goddess in Dior Couture, Charlize Theron brought the essence of heaven to the Golden Globes. Give your room the tranquility every home shall feel with light and airy cream tones. The draped look that Dior created is a fabulous motif to apply to window treatments or to transform your bed into an elegant thrown.

The red carpet was ready for the clock to strike 12 with Sophia Vergara wearing a midnight blue Vera Wang. This calming color is perfect for a bedroom as it is a color that is pleasing to both men and women. Consider a tufted dark blue velvet chair to greet your guests as royalty.
